Most boat charter companies in the USVI strive to provide you with the best experience possible. However, there are a few USVI boat rentals that, in our opinion, you should avoid. Who are they? Drum roll please.
Chukka Caribbean Adventures. In the USVI, we recommend steering clear of Chukka Caribbean Adventures, commonly referred to as Chukka. This company primarily focuses on cruise ship excursions. Based on our experience, you will find yourself on a very crowded boat with little room to sit and relax. Their charters seem designed to accommodate a large number of people on a limited budget. Unless you enjoy large crowds, we suggest you skip this option.
Beach Charters VI. Operating primarily out of Red Hook on St. Thomas, Beach Charters VI offers a hit and miss experience for Virgin Islands charters. Guest reviews indicate many negative experiences, including attempts to travel to the BVI without the proper license. A U.S. Coast Guard-related site shows that their main vessel's inspection expired in September of 2025 (as of May 1, 2026). In our opinion, they lack respect within the maritime community. We would recommend avoiding this company.
